Experts Recommends to Use Hair Sun Creams

Hair protection from sun is as much necessary as skin-protection is. Experts says hair deserves protection from the sun’s rays too, and recommends to use sun creams or sprays to fight against harmful UV rays. One must carry sun protection spray in beach bag to keep hair silky and grease-free.

Hair are the important part of an individual’s personality, so demands proper attention. How can you forget your hair protection when you fill your bag with sunblock, face wash and cleanser before going out? This is what experts said about hair care.

Hair needs extra care during summer season and their protection from sun is important to maintain vibrancy of the colour. Aveda advanced creative director, Michael Lendon said that hair protection from harmful UV rays is extremely important in daily routine. He was of the view that people usually take care of scalp only and forget hair. Sun rays and salt water may cause damage and leave hair looking dry. Michael said “I always encouraged treatment of the hair with some extra nourishment throughout the summer to keep it looking healthy.”

UV rays are dangerous for hair and weakens the protein bonds that functions to support the structure. Hair dresser Michael Van Clarke said that “Add in sea salt, chlorine, and gusty wind and you have a recipe for shrinkage and breakage.” 

Burning or soreness are warning signs for sunburn skin but hair usually doesn’t show any sign of sun damage. It takes few weeks post-holiday when air begins to look like dry and unresponsive. Clarke said “Without sun-protection, a holiday is no holiday for your hair.” Therefore, sun creams should be considered while packing necessary items.

UVA and UVB rays cause sunburn to scalp that can be dangerous because it may cause skin cancer.According to Dr. Nicola Clayton, consultant dermatologist at the London Skin and Hair Clinic, sun rays can damage the hair cuticle and keratin that can further cause catastrophic effects as luster loss, bleaching or split ends.  He recommended to wash hair immediately with fresh water before and after swimming to rid of pool water. Damage is more vulnerable to dry, blonde, fine or chemically treated hair. So he said to “Leave-in UB products that will filter some of the sun’s rays, and several include antioxidants and moisturizers to further protect and rehydrate.”
